Volunteering

As a small charity, we couldn’t do what we do without our fantastic volunteers, who support us in a wide range of activities. This ranges from researching, cataloguing and auditing the items in the collection, answering enquiries from the public, showing visitors around, through to hands-on maintenance of the collection in our conservation workshop.

Volunteering with us offers a rewarding and enriching experience as well as the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and be part of a team caring for one of the oldest military museums in the world.

We’d like to recruit more volunteers to join the team. You don’t need any special skills or experience, although an interest in history would be helpful. Of course, if you’re already an expert in artillery, military history, engineering, conservation, or education we’d be delighted to hear from you!

Whether you’re looking to learn new things, help preserve important heritage, or just meet new people while doing something worthwhile, we probably have a role for you.

All volunteers are provided with training and refreshments.

To apply for any of our volunteering opportunities please contact us via our online form and select the volunteering drop-down box.
